The Emperor's Training (Open)

Post by Azalea on Mon Feb 05, 2018 9:23 am

Midnight

Azalea sat in her Palace, turning her Zanpakuto over and over in her hand. She sat in her throne, located at the very bottom of the sphere shaped central building, and before her were a smattering of Togabito whom were considered to have seriously broken her laws. One, a Giant with the powers of a Fullbringer, whom was accused to wantonly murdering children. A second, Human with Human powers, who was accused of striking Famine in the face. Azalea did not ask where the man's missing arm was, for the stump still bled onto her floor. Three were Hollows whose Species could not be identified, accused of spreading dissent. Lastly was a Werewolf Arrancar, whose crime was repeat suicide in an attempt to amass power, in preparation for dethroning Azalea.

While these were all serious crimes, the Empress sat bored, observing their various reactions to knowing their ruler would be meting out punishment personally. She reached out with her awareness to test their powers and found most of them far below her notice. However...

"I have decided. Firstly, the Giant Truglidine, you are hereby stripped of your territory in the Fifth Circle and shall be banished to the First Circle, under the watch of Famine. The Human Derek, you will be moved to the Seventh Circle,
and give lessons to at Sinner Elementary for as long as Death deems appropriate. The Hollows, you shall be moved to the Fifth Circle, where you'll be too busy trying to stay alive to worry about politics. You five are dismissed,
" the Empress' eye turned to the Arrancar, who stared back defiantly but cowered when her Spiritual Energy flared briefly. She was at least as strong as a powerful Lieutenant, maybe even a weak Captain...

Now

Azalea stood outside the 11th's barracks, a long chain wrapped around her right hand that lead to a heavy collar around a Werewolf female. However, this was no common Werewolf, for she was quite obviously an Arrancar, whose Spiritual Energy was flaring strong enough for all of Seireitei to feel as the Kenpachi dragged the woman around. But, she was also obviously something besides an Arrancar, whose energy felt indescribably wrong.

The Arrancar's punishment was to be Azalea's guinea pig, to truly test the limits of the Gotei's men and women. She was happy to see that the prescence of a powerful Arrancar was drawing her men out of the barracks in hordes, but she lamented their state, most of whom looked to have just woken up or were staggering around, intoxicated.

The Kenpachi had sent letters to the other Captains by way of messenger, requesting assistance in the 11th's training grounds, but she did not know who'd respond.

Her men seemed dumbstruck, however, to find the source of their concern was already subjugated by Azalea, the Werewolf on her hands and knees with Azalea's foot "gently" on her back. Though she didn't put any power into, Azalea's intense weight was the only thing holding the Werewolf down. That, and the fact that Azalea was holding the woman's Chains.

The Kenpachi waited to see if everyone she needed was here.

Re: The Emperor's Training (Open)

If Captain Sakanade was disturbed at seeing a fellow canine collared and used as a footstool he didn't show it.

Couldn't show it, as a matter of fact; given that he was wearing Alfred that day. The hooded 'face' the 2nd's Captain presented to the world never wavered or showed any trace of emotion. A rather handy feature; useful in any situation from battle to a game of poker.

As a matter of fact, it was that particular feature which had contributed to his current location in an overlooked corner of the courtyard. All it had taken for the 11th squad grunt posted at the gate to let them in was a single look--speech being unnecessary. There were times where it was fun to wear Alfred. Very fun indeed.

For the moment he was satisfied to stay where he was to see what would happen next, his personal unsettling aura more than enough to ward lower ranked reapers away. Apparently not enough to draw the Kenpachi's notice, however. And so he gradually weakened the spirit suppression a little at a time, opening the floodgates to allow more of his bleak, oppressive reiatsu to taint the surrounding area.

(As the Arrancar)

Morrigan hissed as the Empress' weight bore down on her back, just enough pressure that it took all the Werewolf's strength to hold herself on all fours. Her Togabito clothes, standard for her Race, being simple white with faint black lines.

The Empress was holding her Hell Chains, effectively eliminating her Togabito power in the process. She could not reach her Zanpakuto, either, as it was across her lower back as a short sword.

She knew that it was only Azalea's presense that kept the Kushinada at bay. She was too exposed here, with only some cloth covering parts of her face. Her dark fur was damp with sweat, however, and her arms threatened to give out as the steady pressure of thousands of pounds rested between her shoulder blades. Chains rattled at her wrists, only a few inches of length visible, though much more was revealed by the Empress holding the ones around her neck.

She looked up, glaring hatred at the Shinigami, her Mask emphasizing her snarling expression as it took the form of a lower jaw with sharp fangs that superimposed her own.

Grym would be walking around, being the new member of the 11th division, he wasn't expecting to end up at the training grounds, he would look around as he crosses his arms, unsure what's going on.

Azalea looked at the gathered Shinigami. Her eye darted to Captain Shiroki, whom she nodded at. Then her gaze returned to the Eleventh.

"It has come to my attention that there are some among you that believe my strict codes of conduct and my training methods are 'outdated,' 'archaic,' and that I need to 'get with the times' and realize we're at peace. Some of you seem to think that just because we're not at war, that our training should slack, that you should be allowed to drink and make fools of yourselves. You have my word as Captain that I will not be angry if you have the courage to step forward, right here, in front of me." Several men and women, noticeably predominately Giants, stepped forward.

Azalea nodded her head, but then kicked the Werewolf woman forward, so that the Arrancar fell onto her face, splayed on the stone ground. Azalea's foot dragged along her back as she did, ripping the woman's Zanpakuto away in the same motion. She still held the chains around her throat, however they were slack and not taunt. "Before you is an Arrancar, one who could fight on par with even some of the weaker Captains. This Arrancar has entered the Seireitei. Are you, as you are now, prepared to fight her? You,
Jebidiah, would you be able to fight an Arrancar dressed in your sleepwear and still drunk from the night before?
" Azalea pointed the Arrancar's Zanpakuto to a Human who had stepped forward, who did seem to be wearing pajamas and stumbling while standing.

"The answer is no, you could not. But this is no ordinary Arrancar. She is a Togabito as well, as you can see from that unnatural Spiritual Energy she emits, as well as these chains I hold. She is a Denizen of Hell, escaped and then captured by myself. Some of you are unaware of what a Togabito is, so I will explain. They are those whose Souls are so tainted by Sin that they're unable to enter Soul Society, and are dragged to Hell instead.
Killing a Togabito will only make them come back more powerful, for they are immortal and are reborn every time they die. Undoubtably some of you are wondering how I know this; in the land I come from, we specialized in killing Togabito, ensuring none leave Hell.

"Your first lesson is that Togabito will always lie to you. Never trust a word they say, for their souls are so impure they are unable to be truthful. Ignore their words completely. Do not fight to kill, but to subdue a Togabito. When you have subdued the Togabito, you must remove any garments they wear, stripping their bodies so that the Kushinada may see them for what they are. Kushinada, guardians of Hell, will then drag the Togabito back."

The Werewolf then interrupted, saying that Azalea was lying, referring to her as Empress Azalea. She looked at the Captain with horror filled eyes, pointing at the black-and-gold skinned woman, saying that Azalea was a Togabito too. In response, Azalea kicked her hard enough to knock the Werewolf Arrancar sliding towards Shiroki.

"Never has a Shinigami become a Togabito. As you have just seen, Togabito are liars in the extreme who'll try to turn their enemies against one another. But my purpose in capturing her was not to return her promtly to Hell, but show you why my training regiments were necessary. The moment I drop these chains, she will return to full power. I want you who have doubted me to fight her. Even unarmed, she is a powerful Arrancar and an immortal Togabito. Consider this Day One of your new training. Everyone else, against the barracks wall and watch," with that, Azalea dropped the chains in her hand, and the Arrancar's power swelled tremendously.

Re: The Emperor's Training (Open)

Post by Shiroki on Thu Feb 08, 2018 7:53 pm

Immortal? Shiro did NOT like the sound of that. Not in the slightest.

He was a simple person, of simple methods: Enemies were to be killed. Only in situations where it was reasonably possible would they be taken alive. From the power spike he noted when the chains were released, 'reasonably possible' was little more than a passing fancy.

Note to self: Research these 'Togabito'. What they are, what they do, how to put them six feet under for good. All that the Kenpachi had described about Hell and its guardians did not reassure him in the slightest. If these 'Kushinada' thingies were so great, then how had this one; assuming it was indeed a Togabito, escaped?

You are assuming that it was an escape. You are also assuming it was a single isolated escape. The reality could be any number of things. A joint escape, in which case this lady's accomplices were still at large and threats to be reckoned with. A diversion; in which those nameless accomplices purposely arranged for one of their own to get 'caught' so as to distract others from their actual goals. Or worse still: an infiltration attempt on the prisoner's part; one which she would promptly die and return to base upon completion with information learned. Assuming, of course, that the Kenpachi's claim about Togabito immortal natures were true.

Every one of those theories assumed a lot. The whole thing stank to high heaven, and not just from the sulfur and dust that clung to the Arrancar like a shroud. Something did not feel right. Working as a jailer long enough gave one a 'sense' for such things, making it possible to predict potential jailbreaks from the prison atmosphere. That internal alarm was ringing nonstop now, alerting the Captain that a possible breach had indeed taken place--and not the most obvious one either. He had a sinking suspicion that the whole thing had been staged somehow, by persons unknown with hidden agenda.

Because things did not add up. Were he to even believe in the existence of Togabito and Hell (he was willing to make allowance here, given the genuine evidence available in front of him), an escape--however small--spoke volumes of the escapee's competence. Because, as the Kenpachi had said; one would not only have to flee Hell's guardians, but also escape their notice to avoid being dragged back (an automatic conclusion from what he understood). Therefore: to have gotten as far as she had, this Arrancar evidently must have some kind of competence, even coming prepared with attire designed to slip below Kushinada notice. And what had she done after such daring escape...? Merely went for a stroll in Seireitei, bumped into a Kenpachi and got trussed up in chains.

All that seemed to suggest the OPPOSITE of competence, really. Would a prisoner invest so much in escape, and then blatantly break into the one place most likely to catch her? Unlikely. Even if so, one assumed that her presence in Seireitei would be goal-related, and therefore in her best interests to NOT get caught at all. After eluding giant skeleton monsters, one would think that giving shinigami the slip shouldn't be that much more difficult...

This was not how prisoners worked. He knew prisoners. Knew them inside and out, having been on both sides of the bars. Things did not add up...

Assumption: The Kenpachi's account is entirely true.
Complication: If it were true, that left gaping holes in logic about the Arrancar's presence...
Theory: Arrancar is mad, or an idiot. No goals in mind, except to break in and cause havoc. No intentions to evade the guards.
Objection: If the above was the case, she wouldn't have gotten as far as she had in the first place.

Theory: Arrancar is neither mad nor an idiot. She made preparations for her escape and subsequent plans. Being caught by Kenpachi factors into those preparations. She wanted to be caught, for whatever reason...
Analysis: That sounded more plausible, though why get caught by Kenpachi of all people? Were he in this Arrancar's place, he might have chosen to be 'caught' by Squad 4 instead. So as to learn more before the inevitable arrest. Unless...did she plan on being killed by Kenpachi as her one-way-ticket back? If so then she was pretty much screwed, since Azalea apparently had no intention to do so...
Outcome: Inconclusive. Pending observation

Theory: Arrancar is neither mad, nor an idiot. Nor did she escape on her own. She had accomplices in the initial breakout, who later betrayed and made her a convenient scapegoat for whatever reason, likely to distract Seireitei from their actual goals
Objection: If that was the case, shouldn't this one be all but shouting the names of her treacherous colleagues all over the barracks by now? Surely she wanted revenge on their stupid backstabbing asses?

Wait. A. Minute...

There WAS something his fellow wolf was shouting over and over, but it was just so ridiculous Shiroki's mind had simply refused to consider it as a possibility up until now:

Empress Azalea?

The Kenpachi's kick had sent her prisoner sprawling, ending up in a convenient heap right in front of Shiroki's feet. It was a simple matter to make a show of assisting her, ensuring Inukaze's shikai scored a shallow scratch as he did so. Her garments had come askew in the fall, so there was no shortage of furry skin to mark. Under all the chains she wasn't all that unattractive--almost like an older Onee-chan.

Just because she looks like your packmate doesn't mean that she's telling the truth... Still it bothered him that he could detect no tract of falsehood in her claim; something he could usually sense with others. Strangely enough, the Kenpachi didn't seem to be completely lying either. One of them had to be telling half-truths. But which one? All of a sudden he found himself even more invested in this particular training session's outcome.

Making his gigai head nod to Azalea, Shiro straightened the Arrancar's attire and escorted her wordlessly back to the center of the 'arena'. It was also an excuse to test Fetch on the way, to make doubly certain he could indeed Recall if the situation demanded it.

He would need a little chat with her soon. Wolf to wolf. One way or the other, Shiroki intended to find out.

(As Morrigan)

Horror and pain filled the Arrancar's mind. She had doubted Azalea before, even planned to take her place, but this!? Empress Azalea was a traitor to all of Hell! And worse still, she planned on serving her up on a silver platter to these Shinigami.

When the Empress kicked her away she whimpered, her tail literally between her legs as she held her stomach. Then hands were on her and she whimpered more, before realizing it wasn't the Empress but some strange Shinigami. She growled as hands touched her slim figure, pawing at her blue-black fur as the Shinigami dragged her to the center.

Azalea then ordered the Shinigami who doubted her to fight Morrigan, who tried to back away but found herself between the group of thirty Shinigami before her and the Empress at her back. She knew which side she'd rather deal with.

Morrigan snarled, baring her sharp fangs at the thirty men and women. "The Empress is lying to you! Azalea's more of a Togabito than I am! But if it's a fight you Soul Reaper bastards want, I'll kill you all myself!" The Werewolf positioned herself with her arms spread, claws stretched out as she moved slowly away from Azalea. She'd never escape the Empress, but she was certain one of these idiots could get a killing blow in if she 'encouraged' them. But then the traitorous Empress shouted for none of the Shinigami to use lethal force, or to remove her garments. Fight to subdue, Azalea said again.

Re: The Emperor's Training (Open)

Post by Azalea on Fri Feb 09, 2018 11:49 pm

Azalea's eye focused on the Arrancar as she told the Shinigami that Azalea was actually a Togabito. Nobody would believe her; the claim was too preposterous. No Shinigami had ever become a Togabito before, as Azalea had claimed.

But, she'd never said anything about the reverse. Her Division had known her long enough to be familiar with her; she doubted any would believe the Arrancar. But one could never be too careful.

Azalea smiled as the men who doubted her drew their Zanpakuto. Those without at least knew enough to stay in the back. They weren't idiots, she thought.

And immediately regretted it as each and every one of the twenty-odd Shinigami unleashed their Shikai and charged at once. No teamwork, no grace, no plan. One of the larger Giants actually kicked one of the Humans in their rush.

Morrigan, of course, had no trouble dealing with twenty-odd Shinigami who were fighting each other as much as fighting her. Werewolves had good reflexes, and Morrigan was a Togabito as well, able to use her near-indestructible chains to block.

One of the Humans, Azalea didn't see whom, managed to cut the Arrancar's shoulder. Azalea only saw the blade coming out as Morrigan jumped back and couldn't locate the wielder. Then she noticed Morrigan crouching even lower, and spoke up loud enough to be heard by the men against the wall.

"Even unarmed, an Arrancar is not defenseless. Their Hierro is hard to damage, and most Arrancar can use the Cero blast to deal a large amount of damage, but requires a brief charge-time. Notice that this Arrancar's charges from between her fangs; all Arrancar have unique Cero locations, but the mouth is most common."

Though Azalea allowed the Cero to scatter the fighting Shinigami, she quickly Hellstepped between the blast and the sitting Shinigami, drawing her Zanpakuto and swatting the Cero straight upwards, letting it disipate high above the barracks without harming any of the non-combatants, though more than one fighter seemed to be out of commission, burned badly by the fierce energy.

Combat:

Morrigan's Cero is Expert. Used Master Armed and Master Spiritual Combats to "swat" the Cero aside.

Re: The Emperor's Training (Open)

His location on the sidelines afforded an excellent vantage point to watch as a group of Shinigami recklessly went into Shikai and charged headlong without any semblance of preparation whatsoever, getting tangled up in the crush and exposed to friendly fire before even making contact with the enemy. Shiro fought an overwhelming urge to facepalm (snout-paw?), not knowing whether to laugh or cry. Idiots.

The sudden release of an unexpected Cero caused him to revise his opinion on the matter. He was an idiot too, for not anticipating this most characteristic weapon in an Arrancar's arsenal. Luckily, Kenpachi Azalea had been in position to prevent any major damage but she could not be in every place at once if something like that happened again. So--

"Bakudo #73: Tozansho"

He spoke the incantation aloud, not caring about being overheard what with all the noise going on at the moment. The crystalline pyramid conjured would be larger than most, the better to allow more space to those inside while also protecting bystanders from stray attacks. Which, considering this lot, would only be a matter of time.

And not a moment too soon. Already tongues of flame and bursts of energy battered away against the walls of his Bakudo; to the sound of 'oohs' and 'ahhs' from a watching audience. Clearly nobody here but himself had the slightest sense of self preservation. From the way the watchers were all but jostling to press their faces up against his barrier, they seemed to be unaware that they were trusting too much in a conjured centimeters thick shield to protect their faces from being blown off by some random Shikai explosion.

Or maybe they simply just did not care. Why was he bothering to protect these idiots again?

Another shot struck the shield and was dispersed. At this rate he might have to step in eventually, if only to make sure they didn't sustain any casualties. And by that he was not merely referring to the shinigami goons. He had a vested interest in seeing that Arrancar alive as well. Were she to die or be returned to hell, there would be no answers to his many questions.

And so he focused half his efforts on maintaining the barrier, the other half mentally ready to Fetch should an opportunity present itself.

Grym sighs as he watches those whom went in to fight just seemed to do more harm to themselves than they did to the arrancar, once he heard Captain Azalea mention that this being is just as dangerous unarmed as it was with a weapon before seeing a cero for the first time, he looked amazed but soon brought himself back to earth before going to use shunpo to move out of the way until the captain drew her Zanpakutō and just simply swatted the energy beam into the sky. Grym was about to ask something until he saw what looked like a pyramid form, he then looks around to see whomever used the kido, where sight might fail him, he soon used his Reiatsu perception to see where the source of the kido is for even though it wasnt needed, he was curious on whom casted the kido.

(As Morrigan)

The Shinigami were a major disappointment. Their attacks hit each other more than herself, and her Cero burned a couple. But what Morrigan could not understand was the Empress' betrayal. She even spared the other Shinigami from her Cero!

Nothing made sense to her. Azalea was a traitor, that was clear. But why? Why align herself with these weaklings? Morrigan growled, her claws scratching several Shinigami again. The drunk, that one Azalea called "Jebidiah", suddenly lurched forward, his skin red as he swung a wide-arcing fist against another Shinigami. Morrigan smiled to herself. Frenzy was taking effect.

Anything cut by Morrigans claws or fangs was infected by her Hell Power, Frenzy. It caused those infected to have their blood become heated, first manifesting as rage, then madness, and finally in death. The first part was concealed under the usual battle rage, but Jebidiah had entered phase two, madness, where he'd attack anyone and anything around him. Death was inevitable now. And with all the blood going around, the infection would spread to the rest of the fighters as well.

That fool Azalea! She had no idea what she unleashed on her new allies!

Re: The Emperor's Training (Open)

Post by Azalea on Sun Feb 11, 2018 5:18 am

Azalea frowned as she watched a single Togabito handle over twenty men and women. It was pathetic. She didn't even have a Zanpakuto. Or any Requiem weapons. But what worried Azalea was she could feel negative energy rising, but not see the Arrancar using any obvious Hell Powers. She'd have to step in soon, but assumed that a few more moments wouldn't be too bad.

"The Togabito has unique powers not seen in any other Race.
The most common usage of this power is the ability to control the Chains of Hell that are attached to their bodies. As you've noticed, the Arrancar has been using said chains to block incoming sword strikes. These Chains are indestructible; only a power far exceeding that of a Captain could ever hope to damage these mythical chains.
"

Azalea was upset to see that the man she noted earlier was lashing out blindly, though she didn't show it outwardly. But as she watched, she noticed that more of the Shinigami were acting more wildly than before, hitting whatever was around them, as if they didn't even care about whom it was.

Azalea's eye widened as two of the fighting Shinigami suddenly jerked, standing stock-still before red mist started to coming from their mouths. No, not mist... Steam. It poured from their mouths, nose and eyes like something from one of those 'horror films' she had heard about. Before she could say anything, the two Shinigami fell, their bodies suddenly husks.

"What in Tanua's name...?" Azalea murmored aloud without realizing it. Then she turned to her fellow Captain, shouting, "You need to drop that barrier immediately! The situation has gotten far too dangerous for my men!"

Re: The Emperor's Training (Open)

Post by Shiroki on Sun Feb 11, 2018 7:28 am

Gee... y'think?

Shiroki had been aware of the problem awhile now, and his suspicions made him hesitate in following that course of action. While he might have been unable to detect the skin abnormalities due to being colorblind, the signs of brain-altering agents were clear enough. Thanks to Captain Oshi, he knew enough to spot a zombie outbreak when he saw one. And if there was one thing all those horror movies had in common, it was this: you did NOT allow any infestation to spread further than it already has.

It was not entirely impossible that the contagion (if that was what it was) had already infected everyone inside the barrier by now. If he lowered the shield, he risked that same infection spreading to those currently-unaffected outside. But at the same time, he supposed Kenpachi had a point. Lany would be seriously pissed if she ever discovered they had lost 20 shinigami to some stupid training exercise. And being one of the only two superior officers present, he probably would be blamed...

Screw it.

The captain tightened his grip on Inukaze, diverting nearby air currents as wind to his location--adding more and more and topping the whole thing off with Shunko until he had them surrounding his hidden body in an airtight shield. A few who had the misfortune of standing too close to him while he did so clutched their throats and gasped for air that was no longer there, nearly toppling as he stalked forward to the pyramid, carved an opening with his Shikai and squeezed through.

He sealed that opening behind him immediately once inside. No point having anyone trying to be a hero and getting themselves zombified in the process. He had fought Kenpachi Azalea before. He had no wish to confront a zombified version any time soon.

And a good thing too. One of the idiots stumbled and threw up against him before he even had a chance to get his bearings--staining Alfred in a mess of spittle and blood. Still more came at him with weapons flailing. Fortunately however, his shunko shield meant his true self remained untouched.

Nonetheless, enough was enough.

"Bakudo 1: Sai!"

The way he had spread the incantation out to cover a wider area meant that it was proportionally weaker in strength and might not hold for long. And so it was with greater urgency that he cast his follow up at the Arrancar. "Bakudo 63: Rikujoukoro,"

Inukaze was moving for her shoulder before the first of the six petals began to form, angled for a shallow wound. He needed to collect a sample of the Arrancar's blood, in case 4th or 12th could re-engineer and produce an antidote from it to return those affected to normal...

"Umezawa--" Dammit! Not now!

Shiro retreated to a safe distance. Had he spoken aloud? Something told him he had.

Focus. Never mind that now. His retreat had taken him back among the tangle of Shinigami, so he decided to finish the job by using Tanma Otoshi on as many of them as possible. Better they be knocked unconscious than remain as distractions during whatever happened next

Kido:
Sai: restricts targets' behind back. Rikujoukoro: binding of 6 light petals. Tanma Otoshi: once used by Yamammoto on Hinamori to render her unconscious

(As Morrigan)

The Arrancar grinned as two of the men finally succumbed to her Frenzy, the blood boiling into steam. Trapped in this barrier, the infection had already spread to the rest, she was sure. Nothing could save them and she laughed out loud as they fought each other.

She moved around the outside of the space the barrier held, avoiding the Frenzied Shinigami, but cursed as the one who cast the barrier entered it. He quickly bound the Shinigami, not that it'd help, not with them already exposed. She swore to the Left Hand as she was bound by lights, her shoulder lightly grazed despite her Hierro.

But she still managed to sneer at the man. "You're all going to die; nothing can stop a frenzy once it starts."

Grym would watch as he watches those whom we're fighting the Arrancar began fighting themselves, soon seeing their skin turning red, he would then apply his Reiatsu perception on the men that are in the barrier since he's against the wall of the barracks with the others that weren't fighting, he was using his Reiatsu perception to see if there was a foreign power afflicting them and to see if it's like any power that if the source is killed, then it would stop.

Azalea frowned, her arms crossed as she watched the fool enter the barrier. You could bind a Togabito, sure, but why bother? They're already bound by Hell, Shinigami magic can't top that. It's simply a matter of power; one man can't hold more power than Hell itself.

"Captain Sakanade, get out of there and let me in. You won't be able to subdue a Togabito by yourself; you're just a Shinigami!" Her long black hair was pushed angrily away from her face, her missing eye closed and scarred over. These were her Shinigami who would die if she didn't solve this problem.

Azalea's hand went to her Zanpakuto but she didn't draw it. She ordered one of the bystanders to go get the medical team before turning back to the Second Captain. "Either let me in there so I can save my men, or get out here and wait for the Fourth!" Without any knowledge of Kido, Azalea had no hope of breaking down this barrier herself; she'd make mastering magic her top priority once her men were saved.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you--"

Clearly he needed more practice at kido. Already casting all those spells in rapid succession--Tozansho, Sai, Rikujoukoro, Tenteikuura and Sajo Sabaku as well to tie the arrancar's wrists--had left Shiro somewhat out of breath. And to think this was the kind of thing Ma'kine did every day. How had the old buzzard pulled it off?

"The affected are safe. As safe as they can be in that state," he informed Azalea through a private Tenteikuura link, pushing the restrained Arrancar through his barrier before stepping out himself. "Your...Togabito--she did something to them. Some kind of infection. That barrier is likely the only thing keeping it from spreading further. If it falls, everyone is at risk,"

All the while he was scanning the crowd, looking for someone he hoped would be in attendance. Not here. Damn. The sample of Arrancar blood wasn't going to just deliver itself. Better to bring the specimen too, just in case the 12th Div eggheads needed to extract other samples.

"I'm taking custody of this one for now. 12th squad will need access to her if they hope to engineer an antidote. By your leave--Kenpachi,"

Shiroki waited, 'arms' folded out of sight in sleeves; leaving his actual paw free to grip hold of the Arrancar's chained wrists. If Azalea intended to fight him for custody, it wouldn't be pretty. Should such a thing happen, he would have to settle for retreat--because he wouldn't be able to both maintain the barrier, keep an eye on the hostage and fight a Captain at the same time.

Aware of all this, he settled on a brisk walk in the direction of 2nd's holding cells with the Arrancar in tow. No need to fan any flames by going into Shunpo or resorting to Recall just yet though. Not until he was sure what the Kenpachi intended to do next.

(As Morrigan)

She swore at the Captains, snarling as the Shinigami man-handled her. There was blood on his robes, she noticed. He was as good as dead. She felt herself being dragged by the magic-user, though she couldn't move of her own volition. They hoped to create an antidote? Useless. You can't stop Frenzy once it begins!

She was growling throatily as the Captain pulled her along, but then her head jerked backwards and she fell on her back, hard, growl turning to a whimper. She had cracked her head on the ground and looked up in dazed eyes to see Azalea standing over her, talking to the other Captain. She felt a heavy foot crushing her bust, and assumed it must have been Azalea's.

Maybe... Maybe Azalea hadn't betrayed the Togabito? Maybe she had some plan that Morrigan simply wasn't aware of? Was she wrong about the Emperor?

Then she felt a sword pierce through her skull and black flames begin to consume her body. "You cu-" Morrigan growled as her entire body burned to nothing, sending her back to Hell. Her last thought was how she'd take both those Captains down.

(Third Person Narrative)

Azalea withdrew her sword from where the Togabito's head had been. The blade was coated in her blood, and Azalea made sure not to touch any part of the blade itself. The ground was stained with an oily black substance, and the scent of a wintry forest permeated the air. "Togabito's powers are too varied in nature to allow this once to survive if she was the cause of those men's deaths. There is no telling if it was her blood, her spirit energy,
or even her mere presence that affected them. You, Captain Sakanade,
are not equipped nor knowledgeable in the ways of Togabito enough to handle holding one prisoner, especially if you thought you could get away with touching her body.

Hmm, he looks to the captains and clears his throat to get the attention of the captains.

"Excuse me, but I believe the arrancar was infecting them with some form of negative energy, I hope that helps to narrow what you need to look for."

He would stand at attention before he says this, knowing that speaking to a captain maybe more disrespectful than just speaking out of turn.

Azalea didn't regret killing the Werewolf. She did, however, regret the loss of life due to this training. She had merely wanted to warn the Shinigami, to aid in their learning of the enemies they hadn't known they had.

But it seemed these Shinigami were too weak currently to handle her typical methods of training. She'd need to go slower; take smaller steps. Perhaps find a single Arrancar, or an even weaker Togabito. But first, reparations had to be made.

She turned to her newest member, nodding. "That is how Togabito feel. Their spiritual energy can only be described as 'negative,' as it is the complete opposite of all other beings. They draw their energy from another source, something the other Races have either never encountered or its been so long that nobody recalls."

Re: The Emperor's Training (Open)

Post by Shiroki on Mon Feb 12, 2018 7:35 pm

No leads. No trace. No suspect. With two already dead and dozens more at the risk of dying even as they spoke.

Well. Perfect. Just perfect--Isn't all this a ginormous waste of time...

Unseen fingers tightened their grip on Inukaze's hilt as common sense warred with an impulse desire to simply strike the Kenpachi down. If not for her he might still have had his hostage; answers to his questions... At least a sample of blood had survived their encounter, it still stained the blade of his Shikai and yet more was collected on the fabric of Alfred's robes. No doubt fatal and poisonous, but so far as he kept his shields up there would be no cause for alarm.

There had been no reason to kill the prisoner. She was subdued and in restraints. Killing her served no purpose, only to return her to hell where she would awaken stronger as a result. Stronger; with inside knowledge of Seireitei that he could not permit. Were it up to him, he would've locked the suspect in his division cells for the time being while requesting she be moved to more secure holdings in the central underground prison. That was the only logical thing to do with an immortal enemy who might also be a spy to boot.

No. That had been a senseless act. Plenty of those tended to happen when a Kenpachi was involved, so that wasn't too surprising. Only... the thing that bothered Shiro was that it hadn't looked like an instinctive act from his perspective. Azalea had not struck with anger or reckless abandon. She had done so with cool efficiency--in the manner he himself would systematically dispatch opponents. There was little doubt in his mind that this had been a calculated act. The Kenpachi had wanted her dead, for some reason. Had preferred the scenario of their hostage escaping in death to grow stronger as opposed to being locked up as a harmless prisoner...

What does that all suggest, I wonder?

It made no sense. Unless she did indeed have something to hide. The point raised by that new shinigami he kept an eye on also stirred some spark of recognition. Having his sensing capabilities active by default, the Captain was always aware of the energy signatures of those around him. He had felt the same unnatural aura as Grym of course, except it hadn't seemed all that foreign to him but familiar somehow... Yet the answer had been staring at him right in the face and he had somehow missed it until Azalea skewered that unfortunate victim's skull: it had been only the briefest of flares, an errant spike of power discharged in the act before its owner could get it under control...but enough for one experienced in perception to detect certain similarities between it and the Arrancar's.

He wanted to confront her. Wanted to take the matter to the Commander and let her decide how to deal with this mess. Unfortunately he had no other evidence to go on aside from his own witness account and the blood on his person. Justice, it seemed, would have to wait.

Leaving the barrier in place, Shiro flash-stepped to a secluded location where he could change out of the compromised robes. These he would deliver to the 4th Squad relief teams that had been called to deal with the scene--to Lieutenant Tsuyosa in person if she was there--and explain the situation as Shiro, then excuse himself and reappear as the Captain once the medics had everything well in hand. It would've been better with a live Arrancar specimen to engineer an antidote, but for now those corrupted blood samples would have to do.

He had her measure now as well, if that was any consolation. Their 'fight' had been a short one, but it had given him a chance to take the measure of her reiatsu, commit it to memory and identify her should their paths cross again. If there was one thing he was known for, it was never forgetting a scent. And Inukaze had marked her too--would it be worth it to check how far Recall's range extended to? Probably wishful thinking, but the Captain resolved to test it all the same once he was back in a safe secure holding cell. Because sometimes you never knew...

He had some tracking to do

Grym nods as he looks at the remains of the being that was supposed to be the source of their training, he would only sigh as looks to the others whom we're not in the fight.

Azalea stuck her Zanpakuto into the ground, careful to avoid the blade. She turned her attention the crowd, frowning as two more of the imprisoned Shinigami suddenly puked up red steam. Kido wouldn't stop a Togabito power like this one. She'd made a horrible miscalculation in taking the arrancar, forgetting her very own lesson; Never underestimate a Togabito. She sighed.

Azalea couldn't even mercy kill her men. Killing one's closest was seen as a sign of respect in Hell, mercy killing ending the victim's suffering so they may become more powerful. She'd have done it now, if it meant sparing her men what agony they must be in.

"Everyone who isn't about to die. Take note. Even unarmed,
and even after her death, the Togabito is still killing your comrades. If the Fourth and Twelfth hurry, we might spare two or three. Out of the thirty two men and women who fought her. Normally, I would give you all the day off,
maybe even the next few days, to mourn. But where there's one Togabito,
there will be others. We do not yet have time to mourn. I want you all back here later today. Until then, you are dismissed. Go and do as you all will.
"

Grym sighs as he hears that they were dismissed for now, but he couldn't help but look at the men whom we're affected by whatever the togabito did to his former comrades, he sighs as he looks around for a place to train himself, wanting to become stronger.
